Peach brown rot, also known as Sclerotinia, is a serious fungal disease that affects peaches and other stone fruits. Infected fruits develop brown, circular spots on the surface, which quickly progress into a brownish rot. The disease can spread rapidly across the entire fruit within just a few days. In later stages, the affected fruits become shriveled, dehydrated, and take on a dried-out appearance, often referred to as "stale fruit." This disease has multiple infection pathways, a long incubation period, and can easily re-infect and spread, leading to significant crop losses. To address this issue, researchers from Linyi City, Shandong Province, including Chen Xiuhui, conducted field trials in 2007 using two fungicides: Bayer CropScience's Goodrich (43% tebuconazole suspension) and Antai (70% propiconazole wettable powder). The results showed that both products were highly effective in controlling peach brown rot. Antai at a 600-fold dilution achieved a control efficacy of over 91%, with an effective duration of about 15 days. Meanwhile, Goodrich at a 5000-fold dilution maintained a stable control rate of around 90%. These two fungicides proved to be suitable for both prevention and treatment of the disease. Additionally, Antai provided a noticeable zinc supplement effect. After application, the leaves became darker and thicker, and the fruit surface appeared shinier. Compared to mancozeb, Antai contains a higher concentration of zinc, and its chelated form is more readily absorbed by fruit trees. This helps avoid the issues associated with long-term use of mancozeb, such as rough skin, black spots, and premature aging—commonly referred to as "manganosis." Prosin Zinc is a protective fungicide that works by inhibiting pyruvate oxidation in pathogenic organisms. Tebuconazole, on the other hand, acts systemically by inhibiting the demethylation of sterols in fungi, disrupting their cell membranes and exerting a strong fungicidal effect. It can be absorbed through the leaves and distributed evenly throughout the plant, offering protection, treatment, and eradication benefits. During the trial, it was observed that combining the protective properties of Antai with the systemic action of Goodrich resulted in a strong synergistic effect, significantly enhancing the control of *Monilinia fructicola* without increasing the cost of treatment. The combination of Goodrich (10,000 times dilution) and Antai (1,000 times dilution) achieved an average control efficacy of 94.26%, which was 3.3% higher than using Antai alone at 600 times dilution, and 5% higher than using Goodrich alone at 5000 times dilution. This combination offers a practical and efficient approach for managing peach brown rot.
