The Jilin Province Agricultural Science and Technology University undertook the Jilin Province Science and Technology Development Plan Applied Basic Research Project “Research on the role and mechanism of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the induction of ginseng resistance/rust-resistant rot (Contract No.-1)” passed the expert appraisal a few days ago.

The use of AM fungi as a biological pesticide to control plant diseases, especially the occurrence and development of soil-borne fungi and nematode diseases has been widely recognized by the current agricultural science community. This project investigated the interaction between five species of AM fungi and ginseng rust fungi and found that Glomus fasciculatum can significantly inhibit the occurrence and development of ginseng rust. The project analyzed the changes of several enzyme activities in the process of ginseng anti-rust/rust resistance induced by AM fungi and found that chitinase and PAL enzymes play an important role in the process of AM fungi-induced ginseng resistance/rust rot. Can effectively solve the ginseng's continuous disease (Repeat disease) problem.

It is understood that the ginseng resistance gene isolated this time is the Class III chitinase gene (genbank bank registration number is DQ532359), and experts also performed prokaryotic expression analysis and functional identification of the gene.
