Yup, I'm officially in my third trimester now, and let me tell you, my cravings for all things sweet have reached new heights. I keep thinking about how this might be the last time I can enjoy sugar during this pregnancy—especially after my glucose test yesterday. Fingers crossed I pass, though! Otherwise, I might need therapy for life. On the flip side, packing up and moving has made me a bit lazy with our meals. Eating out frequently tends to lead to questionable food choices, but hey, that Big Mac? Totally worth it. Plus, my dad has been visiting, and he’s basically my dessert wingman. Together, we’ve already demolished a White Chocolate Raspberry Bread Pudding that we shared our first night here. Honestly, it was divine! But enough indulging! At this stage of pregnancy, I know I need to start cutting back on sugar, so I've been experimenting with healthier treats that still satisfy my sweet tooth. The best part? Each recipe includes at least one "healthy" ingredient to make me feel slightly less guilty. Here are three of my favorites that are perfect whether you're expecting or not. Strawberry Cheesecake Bites Ingredients Directions Start by beating the cream cheese, sugars, sour cream, lemon juice, and vanilla in a medium-sized bowl. Once smooth, set it aside. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined. Now, cut the tops off the strawberries and slice them lengthwise. Trim the base slightly so they stand upright. Pipe the filling onto the strawberry halves and sprinkle with crushed graham crackers. Voila! (adapted from Spoon Fork Bacon) PB, Banana, and Chocolate Chips Ingredients Directions Cut the banana into bite-sized pieces. Spread peanut butter generously on one side of each piece and top with chocolate chips. Simple, right? It’s like a portable PB&J with a gourmet twist. Berries with Sweet Cream Ingredients Directions Whisk the whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar. Serve over fresh berries—or even slice up some angelfood cake and dollop it on top. If you’re feeling lazy, Cool Whip works just fine too! I must say, each of these snacks has its own charm depending on the day or mood you're in. The Strawberry Cheesecake Bites are particularly crowd-pleasers, but the original recipe yields a ton of filling. Unless you're hosting a party, you might want to halve it. Don’t worry though, the leftovers are fantastic on graham crackers or even as a topping for French toast with blueberries! So, what are your go-to comfort snacks when you're craving something sweet?
