The growth rate of *Astragalus membranaceus* in the female stage is only about 30% of that in the male stage. In commercial loquat cultivation, effective results can be achieved by implementing strategies to promote male seedlings early on. 1. **Male Object Selection** Male seedlings typically begin to develop during the summer flowering period, once the yolk sac has disappeared. At this stage, the maleization process is most efficient and takes the shortest time. When the weight reaches approximately 20 grams, maleization at the seedling stage is also effective, though the treatment duration is longer. Seedlings weighing over 50 grams can still be maleized, but this should be done at the start of autumn, and the treatment should begin around the beginning of spring, lasting about 10 days. For seedlings weighing more than 100 grams, applying hormones can speed up the male transformation, but it's important not to use them during the spawning season. 2. **Application Methods** Two days before the summer flowering period, stop feeding the seedlings. On the third day, when the yolk is being consumed, grind the yolk into a paste. Add 2 ml of an alcohol solution containing 1 mg of methyltestosterone to each yolk, mix thoroughly, and ensure the feed amount does not exceed normal levels. After six days of continuous feeding, switch to mashed food and increase the dose to 2 mg per 50 grams of mash (dissolved in 5 ml of alcohol). Discontinue the treatment after 15 days of feeding. Once the male application is completed, females rarely appear. For added assurance, if the seedling weighs about 10 grams, apply for 15 days with no need to increase the dosage. If the seedling weighs 15 grams or more, use 3 grams of live wolfberry mixed with 500 grams of feed. Continuous feeding for one month will result in complete male development. 3. **Precautions** It’s recommended to use high-quality varieties specifically bred for maleization. Male seedlings can gain an average of 350 grams annually, while wild types show less noticeable weight gain. The dosage should not be too high, but it can be gradually increased if needed. When feeding, make sure the feeding area is larger than usual to prevent uneven consumption. Avoid using disinfectants in the maleization pool, but ash can be used as an alternative. The ash dosage should be between 5–20 mg/kg, with lower amounts in spring and autumn (5–10 mg/kg) and higher in summer (10–20 mg/kg).
