In the pig farming process, feeding ginger to sows during pregnancy can significantly improve the survival rate of piglets, often reaching over 98%. Piglets born from ginger-fed sows tend to be healthier, stronger, and have a higher average weight, typically gaining between 1 to 1.5 kg compared to those from non-feeding sows. About 20 days before farrowing, it's recommended to prepare a ginger mixture. Crush 0.5 kg of fresh ginger and mix it with 2 to 3 liters of warm water. This solution is then fed to the sow three times a day. After giving birth, sows may experience dehydration and thirst. To help them recover, provide a solution made from 0.5 kg of bran, 30 grams of salt, and 2 liters of water. In colder seasons, use warm water to mix the ingredients, and feed this mixture 2 to 3 times daily. Additionally, feeding kelp to sows can enhance milk production. During the first month after birth, give the sow 0.5 kg of kelp per week. Soak the kelp first, then mix it with 100 grams of animal oil, chop it finely, and boil it in 4 liters of water to make a nutritious kelp soup. Feed this soup to the sow every morning. In the second month, when milk production peaks, you can reduce the frequency to every 3 to 5 days, depending on the sow’s condition and milk supply. These practices not only support the health of the sow but also ensure that piglets receive better nutrition from the start, leading to improved growth and overall performance in the early stages of life.
