Recently, pigs raised by some rural households in our district have an intestinal disease, characterized by catarrhal hemorrhagic inflammation in the large intestine mucosa, and some have developed into necrotizing inflammation of cellulose, and clinics show mucinous or mucous hemorrhagic diarrhea. The incidence and mortality of piglets are quite high, the growth rate is greatly reduced, feed consumption is exponentially increased, and economic losses are serious.

1 Epidemiological characteristics

Pigs of different ages and breeds are susceptible, especially 7-12 weeks old piglets. The incidence and mortality of piglets are higher than that of big pigs. The season of onset is not obvious. It occurs in all seasons. The epidemic is slow and the duration is long. Mainly spread through the digestive tract.

2 clinical symptoms

2.1 The most acute type: seen in the early epidemic, the mortality rate is high, individual performance asymptomatic, sudden death, the majority of cases showed food waste, severe diarrhea, stool began to yellowish gray, quickly turned into a water sample, with mucus, blood or Blood clots, exfoliated mucous membranes, or exudates of cellulose. The pig's anus is loose, the bowel is incontinent, the abdomen is bowed, the eyeball is subsidence, and it is highly dehydrated. It often convulsions death. The disease duration is 12 to 24 hours.

2.2 Acute type: the disease will be soft or loose feces in the beginning, followed by a large amount of semi-transparent mucus in the stool and jelly-like, at the same time with blood or blood clots in brown or black and red, and there are shedding of mucosal debris. At the same time show loss of appetite, abdominal pain and rapid weight loss. Some deaths, some turn chronic, the course of 7 to 10 days.

2.3 subacute and chronic type: more common in the middle and late period of the epidemic when the light and heavy, repeated. Faeces contain black blood and mucus (like grease). The pigs had normal or slightly decreased appetite, progressive weight loss, anemia, growth retardation, and a cachexia. A small number of rehabilitation pigs relapsed after a certain period of time and even relapsed several times. The subacute course is 2 to 3 weeks, and chronic is 4 weeks or more.

3 pathological changes

The main lesion was confined to the large intestine The most acute and acute manifestations were catarrhal hemorrhagic colitis, swollen intestinal segments, mucosal hyperemia, and hemorrhage. The intestinal lumen was filled with mucus and blood, showing a chocolate or cream color. In patients with slightly longer duration of the disease, necroinflammation occurs. Spot-like necrosis and yellow or gray pseudomembrane can be seen on the mucosal surface. It is a bran-like or bean curd-like appearance. The colorectal lesions may occur in certain intestinal segments and may also be distributed throughout the large intestine. The mesenteric lymph nodes were slightly swollen and congested.

4 laboratory diagnosis

Take fresh pig manure, preferably with a little bloodshot mucus or large intestine mucosa directly smear, with oxalic acid crystal violet, Giemsa stain or blush staining microscopy. For example, if each high-power field has 2 to 3 larger spiral bodies that move slowly and snake-like, preliminary diagnosis can be made. For cases with acute late stage, chronicity and after administration, isolation and culture are required. The diseased material is serially diluted 10 times, each dilution is streaked with 0.05 ml, and then anaerobicly cultured.

Serological diagnosis includes agglutination test, agar diffusion test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The agglutination test and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were used for herd testing.

5 control plan

5.1 The prohibition of the introduction of breeding pigs from infected areas should be based on the principle of self-cultivation and self-cultivation. The introduction of breeding pigs, the implementation of isolation and quarantine, in particular, less than the bazaar trade market to buy pigs, usually strengthen health management and epidemic prevention and disinfection work.

5.2 When the disease is found, it can be disinfected according to the situation. The use of drugs for prevention and treatment, the entire group of pigs in the implementation of therapeutic treatment of the amount of drugs. Disease-free pig house implements drug prevention.

5.3 The clinical drugs for dysentery are mainly furazolidone, diarrhea and sulfa drugs. The key is to avoid infection. When taking medication, control the dosage to prevent poisoning.
