Cornfields is a contract packer that packs a wide range of fast food products, including icing popcorn, fried and baked snack balls, chocolate desserts and squeezed snacks, ranging from 1/2 to 20 ounces in size. Cornfields has two vertical forming/filling/sealing machines from Hayssen Packaging Technologies and a vertical forming/filling/sealing machine from Matrix Packaging Machinery. Yamato's multi-head electronics are mounted on top of each vertical forming/filling/sealing machine to weigh the product.
The Waferthin metal detector, with a 7-inch aperture and a height of only 5 inches, can be easily installed between the discharge slot of the weighing machine and the bagging machine. Its size is a major consideration for Cornfields, as replacing the existing stainless steel funnel adds extra cost and inconvenience, and they don't want to. The Waferthin detector is compact and designed for high-speed integrated packaging system applications, and high-speed integrated packaging systems are becoming more common in the fast food and confectionery industries.
The metal detector's electronics are mounted directly on the detector's search head, either by a small keyboard mounted on the search head or by a separate remote keypad. This saves useful space for electronic scales and bagging machines. It does not require the installation of a housing. It is easy to do when the operator needs to set or adjust the detector settings.
