British technicians have recently developed a highly accurate body temperature sensor that has shown tremendous potential in the medical field, especially for developing tools that help women become pregnant.

The wireless sensor, developed by Cambridge Temperature Concepts Inc. (CTC) of the Cambridge Science Park, measures the temperature range of one thousandth of the human body. So far, it is the most accurate in the range of one tenth of a degree.

Dr. Shamus Husheer, CEO of CTC, said: “Now the technology we use to create sensors does not exist 5 to 10 years ago. Many people have basically given up on creating high-precision sensors for consumers. The reason is that we don't know that this is impossible. At the same time, it means that we must use creativity to solve problems."

High precision and long life are critical for body temperature sensors, and this new invention can tell couples the best time to conceive. When an egg is released, the body temperature of a woman rises by about half a degree, but natural activities such as walking and sitting can increase the body temperature, so the method recommended by scientists is to wake up in the morning before getting up. Measuring body temperature.

A spokesperson said: "This is very inconvenient, requires manual recording, measurement, and then you need to try to understand and determine when temperature changes occur. Usually, it is not a certain day, so the best pregnancy time is missed. On the contrary, the sensor reads the body temperature every few seconds and performs statistical processing along with other physiological parameters, which can predict the optimal conception time several days in advance, so that the couple can plan a romantic night."

The precise temperature measurement capability of this new body temperature sensor calculates the body surface temperature flow and vice versa. Together with a motion sensor, it can show when the user is in deep sleep and when unconscious behavior occurs - this behavior increases blood flow and disrupts heat balance. This result provides more accurate measurements of body temperature during deep sleep, which is needed to find accurate ovulation time.

Husheer said: "We are now in the mid-stage of the trial, and we have received a lot of feedback from the trial users. These prediction features allow them to schedule in advance and free them from the nervousness and worry of reading the thermometer data to determine the appropriate time. Come out and become relaxed." He said: "For those couples who are participating in the trial, they have problems with conception, are planning or have received IVF treatment, and the body temperature sensor has brought them huge returns. Some of the couples who participated in the trial were pregnant. Basically, we allowed them to grasp the best natural conception."

According to reports, this coin-sized device also uses innovative power-saving technology, which can extend the battery life to 6 months instead of the usual few days. This sensor can process and compress data read every few seconds. It can store data within one month on 2M single-board memory, and can be downloaded by RF using a card reader if needed.

CTC is currently exploring other medical applications for such sensors, such as infection response monitoring, where high-sensitivity temperature-reading sensors can open up new treatments. Shanghai Medical Device Industry Association
