The quality of the boar directly affects the level of pig-raising efficiency, and the quality of the feed directly affects the function of the boar. Some farmers have used sows to feed boars, causing boars to grow fast, sex is late, sexual desire is not strong, testicular function is abnormal, and sperm cannot be produced normally. So why is it bad to feed boars with lactating sows?

1 The boar's feeding and management goals are different from those of nursing sows. The boar's feeding and management objectives are: good growth rate, feed utilization, daily gain of 100-500 g/day, prevention of excessive growth, excessive weight; maintaining normal libido and mating agility; producing large quantities of normal and vitality Sperm.

2 Boar energy levels are lower than those of nursing sows. The boar feed energy level should be 11.3-12.1 MJ/kg in order to maintain the boar's own growth needs, semen production, and breeding activities. High dietary energy levels can cause boars to grow too fast, increase fat and burnout, decrease libido, and have poor semen quality.

3 Boars need more vitamin E, zinc, and selenium than nursing sows. The proper amount of vitamin E and trace elements zinc and selenium can promote the formation and activity of sperm and improve semen quality. The vitamin E content of the boar diet should be increased to 40-80 mg/kg, the zinc content is 80-150 mg/kg, and the selenium content is 0.3 mg/kg, so that the fertility will be significantly enhanced.

Therefore, farmers should not use lactating sows instead of boar feed. Feeding boars should be provided with full-price, high-quality, low-cost special feeds, or purchase reputable brand-name special feeds, and feeding them regularly and quantitatively, 2 times a day, and 2-3 kg on a daily basis. At the same time, it is necessary to maintain a reasonable level of crude fiber. It is best to replenish 0.5-1 kg of green feed or silage per head per day.
